IAFF members across Canada lobbied members of parliament and senators on key issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic in November as part of the first-ever virtual Canadian Legislative Conference.

The winner in the 2020 IAFF Best Pink T-Shirt Contest for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is Shawinigan, QC Local 5209 with 770 votes. Local 5209 was among the 101 locals that submitted entries.

As the race for the White House has dominated headlines since Election Day, November 3, the IAFF successfully helped many affiliates secure important victories at the ballot box to improve working conditions.

 IAFF Disaster Relief crews are being organized and are beginning to assist the 20 members with the hurricane damage to their homes. The crews hope to complete all projects by the end of the day November 1.

IAFF affiliates in British Columbia are celebrating a major election victory, including the first-ever election of a fire fighter to the province’s legislature.

Hundreds of IAFF members are on the frontlines of the Silverado fire, which has burned nearly 13,500 acres and is threatening thousands of homes. Approximately 90,000 residents, including several IAFF members, have evacuated.
