In most cases, your Local leadership should be your first point of contact.
District Vice Presidents (DVPs) provide oversight and support at the district level when issues cannot be resolved locally.
Contact your Local first for:
-
Dues questions
-
Contract negotiations
-
Grievances or disciplinary matters
-
Workplace concerns
-
Internal Local governance issues
Your Local leadership is responsible for representing members directly with the employer and handling day-to-day union matters.
Contact your District Vice President if:
-
An issue cannot be resolved at the Local level
-
Your Local leadership advises you to escalate
-
You are seeking assistance with organizing or affiliation
-
You need district-level guidance on IAFF policy or programs
DVPs work with Locals across their district to provide support, resources, and coordination when needed.
Not sure where to start?
If you are unsure whether to contact your Local or your District Vice President, you can submit a request through the IAFF contact form. Your inquiry will be routed appropriately.
