How to request assistance from the IAFF

Learn how to submit a request for support to the IAFF and which types of issues should be handled at the Local or district level.

The International Association of Fire Fighters provides support to members and affiliated Locals. The appropriate point of contact depends on the type of assistance you need.

Start with your Local

In most cases, your Local should be your first point of contact for:

  • Contract and bargaining issues

  • Grievances or disciplinary matters

  • Dues or membership questions

  • Workplace concerns

  • Internal Local governance matters

Your Local is responsible for representing members directly with the employer.

When to contact the IAFF

You may request assistance from the IAFF if:

  • An issue cannot be resolved at the Local level

  • Your Local advises you to escalate the issue

  • You are seeking organizing or affiliation information

  • You need district-level guidance on IAFF programs or policy
