Active-Retired Membership Toolkit
Active-retired members know better than anyone what engaged union membership makes possible. Historic wins like the Social Security Fairness Act, which repealed WEP and GPO, wouldn’t have happened without them.
Retiring members must convert to active-retired status to maintain their IAFF membership. This toolkit gives Locals the information and resources they need to explain those benefits and keep retiring members connected to the union.
Locals can request folders from the IAFF Organizing Department to distribute to members upon retirement.
