With a cut of a ribbon, the Seattle Fire Fighter Health Clinic at Fire Station 2 is now open for IAFF members.
Over the past three years, Seattle Local 27 has been working with Seattle Fire Fighters HealthCare Trust, the Seattle Fire Department and Qliance to organize and build this clinic focused on treating Seattle fire fighters.
“With this clinic, we are working toward the prevention and early detection of injuries and diseases that can disable or kill fire fighters,” says Kenny Stuart, president of Seattle Local 27. “Since September 2015, we have lost two members to cancer and two others to suicide. We hope that by closely monitoring our members at this facility that we can get those numbers down to zero.”
The clinic will be managed by Qliance, a membership-based primary care company. The company’s doctors will oversee all aspects of fire fighter primary care and occupational health.
