The IAFF is welcoming one if its newest locals, Buxton, ME Local 5215.
As the Town of Buxton grows, the Buxton Fire and Rescue Department is growing as well. Local 5215 was formed to give the rank-and-file a voice as decisions are made about increasing or changing fire department resources.
“We feel that it is important to be part of the process when it comes to resource development and allocation,” says Local 5215 President Kate McQuillen. “The end result will be better fire and emergency medical services to the community.”
Joining President McQuillen on the Local 5215 Executive Board are Secretary-Treasurer Denise Nessmann and Vice President Brandon Redlon. The local is currently negotiating its first contract, which will include strong language that can be built on through the negotiation process in the future.
“We are proud to have the members of Local 5215 become part of the Third District family,” says 3rd District Vice President Jay Colbert. “I know they will continue to work hard on behalf of the IAFF membership.”
