The winner in the 2020 IAFF Best Pink T-Shirt Contest for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is Shawinigan, QC Local 5209 with 770 votes. Local 5209 was among the 101 locals that submitted entries.
The winning T-shirt was designed by David Vincent from Faktory 66, an artist who does logo work for fire stations, fire fighter associations and more across the province of Quebec. T-shirts were worn in stations and sales have raised more than $5,000 that will be donated to the cause.
“It was something that was very important for us because everyone is touched by this cancer,” says Local 5209 President Benoit Ferland. “We know a lot of fire fighters around Quebec whose families have been directly affected by breast cancer. The current pandemic has made it even harder for charitable foundations to collect funds so we felt it was part of our job to help.”
The winning affiliate receives a free registration to the next Redmond Health and Safety Symposium/Barbera EMS Conference. Thank you to those that participated, and don’t forget to submit your design next October.
