Cedar Park Local Raises $5,500 for Cancer Patient

August 28 • 2014

Liz Lidner, a paramedic in Cedar Park, Texas, often works alongside Cedar Park Local 4233 fire fighters. So when Local 4233 members learned that she had been diagnosed with cancer, they were the first to offer help.

“Liz has used up all of her sick leave battling this disease, so she is effectively on leave without pay,” says Local 4233 President Brad Moore.  “She has three kids, so that makes the situation pretty tough. So we organized a fundraiser to offset costs.”

The event was called “Lose it for Liz.” The public was invited to shave their heads and eat breakfast tacos in exchange for donations. The fundraiser drew a large crowd, including state House Representative Tony Dale, who surprised Liz with a Texas flag that had previously flown over the state capitol building.

The event raised $5,500.
