Port Neches, TX to hold testing for entry level fire fighter

Port Neches, TX announces its examination date for entry level fire fighter.
Application deadline is Sept. 10 at 5pm. Examination date is Sept. 12 at 2:30 pm sharp at the City of Port Neches City Hall, 1005 Merriman, Port Neches, TX 77651.

Frederick, VA County Fire and Rescue Department accepting Fire Fighter/EMT Registration

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department is accepting registrations for Probationary Fire Fighter/EMT and will be administering the testing process on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 to establish an eligibility list.

To qualify, applicants must have:
Valid Driver's License; High School Diploma/GED;Preferred certifications in:Virginia or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician(ALS certifications preferred)Virginia Fire Fighter I (NFPA 1001) or ProBoard
These certifications must be submitted at the time of application. Individuals who do not have these certifications will be allowed one year to obtain certification in order to be considered for future employment.
Frederick County offers a competitive benefit package to include ALS incentive for certified providers ($3,000 for Enhanced/ Advanced EMT, $5,000 for EMT-Intermediate, and $7,000 for Paramedic), Virginia State Retirement with LEOS benefits, health and dental insurance, life insurance, and paid time off program. A $5 testing fee will be required at the time of registration. The written exam and physical agility test will be held on September 24, 2014. Frederick County HR Department will send out registration confirmation prior to the test date.

City of Winston-Salem, NC Seeks Fire Chief

The City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, operating under a Council-Manager form of government, seeks a Fire Chief who is a visionary and innovative leader with a demonstrated history of building esprit des corps within the department, as well as a being a skilled collaborator and advocate with city government and community. The position is open due to retirement. Position description and responsibilities: Reporting to the City Manager, the Fire Chief will lead a 224 year old fire department with a rich civil rights history as the first department in the state to integrate. The Chief will supervise a $26.1M budget, 343 budgeted personnel who work in suppression (319), prevention (14) and administration (10), 19 stations and a Fire Recruit Academy. The Chief will also work closely with the Public Safety Committee and the Fire Fighters Association, a non-bargaining employee group that represents member Fire fighters. Handling about 28,000 medical and fire calls per year, the department has dedicated truck and rescue companies, and operates a 24 on, 48 off schedule. Fire fighters proudly complete in the Fire Fighter Combat Challenge and engage in an active public education program to keep Winston Salem safe.

Qualifications: The City seeks a fire safety leader with a minimum of 20 years progressive fire safety experience and 5-7 years of cross-functional and progressively responsible experience including fire suppression, prevention, EMS and administrative work at rank of Battalion Chief or higher; a BA/BS degree (Master's degree highly preferred). NFA certification is preferred. The pay band is $85,500-$154,560. Base salary and compensation are negotiable within the band based on experience and qualifications.

Spring Township, PA seeking applications for Fire Rescue Captain

The Township of Spring, PA is seeking applications for the position of full-time Fire Rescue Captain.

Potential applicants must meet the minimum requirements:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fire/rescue services including 3 years of experience as a suppression officer, (Lieutenant, Captain, or above), directly supervising career Fire Rescue personnel in a career or combination department.
Associate's Degree in related discipline is preferred (ex: Public Safety Administration or fire/rescue related field); candidates without an Associate's Degree will be required to have seven (7) years of experience including (3) years as a suppression officer as described above.
Regardless of years of experience, applicants must have a demonstrated history supervisory and leadership ability in Fire Rescue Services operations management in a career or combination department.
Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License (if out of state license must obtain Pa Driver's license within 6 months of hire) with satisfactory driving record
