Okeechobee County, FL seeking fire chief
Okeechobee County, FL has an opening for the Fire Chief's position. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Okeechobee County Fire Rescue has three stations staffed by 36 employees and provides fire and Advanced Life Services.
-Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Fire Administration, Fire Science, Public Administration or related field; Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree preferred;
- Eight (8) years of progressively responsible authority in the fire service with at least five (5) years service as a chief, assistant/deputy chief, or a ranking officer in a similar sized or larger department; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience;
- Current certification as a Firefighter as authorized by 633.412, F.S.; and all certification requirements under Florida Administrative Code 69A-37;
-Graduation from Executive Fire Office Program and certification as an EMT or Paramedic is preferred;
- Florida certified as a Fire Officer I;
-Valid Florida Driver’s License.

City of Alpena, MI seeking fire fighter/paramedic
The City of Alpena, MI is accepting applications for the position of fire fighter/paramedic. Minimum requirements shall be but are not limited to: high school graduate, minimum age 18. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree, or adequate experience as a fire fighter/paramedic, as determined by the City, may substitute for the Associate Degree. Applicants must possess State of Michigan Paramedic license, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Cardiac Life Support (PALS), FFTC Fire Fighter I and II certifications prior to appointment. Applicants who are not currently certified as a paramedic, Fire Fighter I or II must submit with their application acceptable proof that they will be so certified prior to appointment.

The Executive Director is responsible for administering and providing staff assistance to support the activities of the Corporation, it's Commissions (Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC) and all other programs, including the Technical Advisory Program (TAP) and Residential Fire Sprinkler Contractor Accreditation Program (ReFSCAP.) This position reports directly to the CPSE Board of Directors.
• Responsible for the continualdevelopment, growth, and management of the CPSE and assists with vision development and strategic andaction planning.
• Develops and submits to the Board the annual budget and is responsible for its management after adoption.
• Provides leadership, direction, supervision, and support to staff members.
•Identifies problem areas, recommends solutions and follows up on action steps.
•Conducts research, makes recommendations and develops strategies and implementation plans for commission activities.
•Makes public presentations to key points of contact with other associations and government officials.
•Manages contractsand grants.
•Oversees the identification of products, services, and support relating to the accreditation or designation of members agencies or individuals.
•Identifies communications/marketing needs and implements programs necessary to keep agencies/individuals appraised of CPSE and commission activities.
•Provides monthly updates to the Board.
•Assists in Board development of strategic policy governance goals, and ensures they are implemented as approved.
•Develops a means to and ensures proactive communications with the Board of Directors.
•Demonstrates good character with a focus on customer service, customer issues management andr esolution.
•Must have the ability to work with a Board that is remote from the work site.
•Must insure a non-modified audit report for all lines of business.
•Ability to manage a small staff and over 400 volunteers spread throughout the country.
•Ability to set standards of Performance and manage to them.
•Must be comfortable and experienced with autonomy and accountability.
Education and Experience:
•Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Fire Administration,
•Public Administrationor related field. A Master'sdegree is preferred.
•Eight years of management, and four years budget development and fiscal oversight is required.
•Knowledge of the accreditation process in fire and emergency services ora related field is preferred.
•Must possess business acumen and practice fiscal responsibility in the development, implementation, and management of the corporate financials.
•Experience in working in a non-profit is desirable, including income generation, tax filing, and reporting requirements and associated legal requirements.
•Experience working with technology and computer programs including spreadsheets, wordprocessing, and remote meeting software.
•Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Knowledge of marketing, training, and organizational/staff development is preferred.
•Responsible for building the revenue stream to support the strategic growth of the CPSE.
•Holding ASAE Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification or a willingness to achieve CAE certification within an agreed upon time frame is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits:
The starting salary range for this position is up to $150,000 annually, DOQ, and includes an excellent benefits package. Relocation assistance may be available for the successful candidate if he or she lives outside of the D.C. area.
