This year’s Union Plus Scholarship recipients include two active IAFF members and nine children of fire fighters in the organization. They are among the 209 students representing 42 unions who received awards.
Union Plus, which was created by the AFL-CIO to offer consumer benefits to union members, awards scholarships annually to members or their families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. The organization has awarded more than $5.6 million to more than 4,000 individuals since 1991.
“Congratulations to our 11 award winners,” General President Edward Kelly said. “These scholarships are a testament to their hard work and dedication, which I know will continue far into the future.”
