It is with heavy hearts that Santa Monica, CA Local 1109 announces the passing of Fire Chaplain Donald Doss. Doss was stricken with a sudden health issue and shortly thereafter passed away on August 7, 2016, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Margaret and his four children: Daniel, Damian, Maria and Matthew.
“Although Don was not a member of the IAFF, he was extremely supportive of our membership, our fire fighters, our union and its cause,” says President of Santa Monica Local 1109 James Altman. Fire Chaplain Doss was affectionately known by Local 1109 members as “Double D.” “Don will be missed and we send our condolences to his family,” says Altman.
