The IAFF extends a big welcome to Oshtemo, MI Local 5240, one of the IAFF’s newest affiliates whose members are part of a growing fire department.
The Charter Township of Oshtemo Fire Department began as an all-volunteer department but transitioned to a career department as the township population grew, along with the need for emergency services.
Oshtemo Local 5240 President Adam Bennett says, “When we heard about the educational opportunities and services the IAFF has to offer, there was no question about which union to affiliate with.” The executive board of the 15-member local includes Secretary-Treasurer Nathan Carley and Vice President Eric Burghardt.
