Las Vegas Fire Fighters Help Veteran Visit World War II Memorial

January 5 • 2016

Las Vegas, NV Local 1285 members’ November fundraising efforts will give a Nevada World War II veteran an opportunity to visit Washington, DC and the World II Memorial.

In November, Local 1285 members sold T-shirts honoring veterans and wore them on duty during the week that includes Veteran’s Day. By month’s end, they had raised $984 and donated the money to Honor Flight Southern Nevada, a nonprofit organization with the mission of escorting World War II veterans to the memorial at no cost to the veteran.

“It has been our honor to raise money for this noble cause,” says Local 1285 President Scott Johnson, “We’re grateful to have the opportunity to give back to those who have sacrificed so much to serve our country.”

In addition to the donation, Local 1285 members will be donating their time to escort the veteran to the memorial site.
