Cleveland, OH Local 93 will be hosting its first Firefighters Hockey Conference Feb. 16-18 at FirstEnergy Stadium, home to the Cleveland Browns. It’s open to all IAFF members.
The conference will include a hockey tournament between police and fire hockey teams, a day of educational opportunities, and social events for networking.
“We are proud to host our IAFF brothers and sisters for what we hope will be an annual event,” said Local 93 President Francis Lally. “The support from IAFF leadership as well as our brothers and sisters from across the 8th district has been tremendous.”
Twelve fire department teams will participate in the tournament, including two from Cleveland and Euclid, Lorain, Columbus, Toledo, and Dayton, Ohio; and departments from Chicago, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
On the education day, current and past IAFF Director Health and Safety Operational Services Sean DeCrane and David Bernzweig and others organized training opportunities to include peer support and Fit to Thrive (F2T).
Fundraisers will be held throughout the conference to benefit the families of all member Ohio and Michigan fire fighters whose names will be added to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighters’ Memorial this September.
