Driven by repeated exposure to carcinogens on the job, cancer is a leading threat to the health of fire fighters.
This week focuses on understanding where cancer risks and exposures come from, so fire fighters can take informed steps to better protect themselves. Identifying the threat is an important first step in reducing risk.
This week’s resources highlight cancer-related exposures on and off the fireground, the risks associated with those exposures, and practical strategies to reduce them — for every fire fighter, from new recruits to retirees.
To get the most from this week, we recommend taking one day to conduct a Safety Stand Down in your department.
