The 57th IAFF Convention kicks off Monday with the theme “Wherever the Fight Is,” highlighting the union’s spirit and commitment to confronting challenges head-on.
From Aug. 26-30, the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center will host this important event, bringing together fire fighters, rescue workers, and emergency medical personnel from across the U.S. and Canada.
The biennial convention, which starts at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26, serves as a forum for members to vote on resolutions and amendments that will shape the future of the firefighting profession and the IAFF. You can watch the Opening Ceremony on the IAFF’s YouTube page.

Convention delegates will consider 65 resolutions covering a wide range of issues.
“Our Convention is an opportunity for delegates to make the voice of our members heard – it is where we chart the course for our Union’s future,” said General Secretary-Treasurer Frank Líma. “I am excited to join with more than 2,500 leaders from across the IAFF to continue the fight to protect our profession.”
Here are a few tips to consider:
- Those attending should complete the credential process online before arriving in Boston to ensure a smooth registration experience.
- Convention materials will be shared electronically, and attendees are encouraged to bring a device with wireless access, such as a laptop or tablet. The IAFF app will provide access to the Convention agenda, resolutions, and other important resources.
- Be sure to download the IAFF app before arriving in Boston.

- 9 a.m. – The Exhibit Hall opens. Visit IAFF staff and booths of partner agencies and sponsors for useful information.
- 5-7 p.m. – Welcome Reception hosted by Boston, MA Local 718.
