Oregon State Fire Fighters Council (OSFFC) Secretary-Treasurer Rocky Hanes is the newest commissioner to join the Clark County Fire District 6 Board in Washington state after defeating Casey Collins, an incumbent with more than 20 years on the board.
Hanes, who is also Tualatin Valley, OR Local 1660 president, is a resident of Clark County, Washington, but works in nearby Tualatin Valley.
“It is critical that Clark County Fire District 6 fire fighters have the tools they need to stay safe on the job,” says OSFFC Secretary-Treasurer Hanes. “I am looking forward to doing my part.”
Hanes was supported by Vancouver, WA Local 452, which represents fire fighters who serve the communities in Clark County Fire District 6.
“I am proud of the work our members, especially IAFF Political Training Academy graduate Brandon Franck, did to make Rocky’s campaign a success,” says Local 452 President Ryan Reese. “I know Rocky will work hard to ensure the fire district’s growing communities have the additional staff and resources they need to meet the increased demand for service.”
Taking what he learned at the Political Training Academy, Franck and other Local 452 members developed a campaign that included door-to-door information drops and strategically timed mailers.
The strategy also helped fellow Local 1660 member Chris Pfeifer win his seat on the board in 2019. Another board member, Brad Lothspeich, is a retired battalion chief.
