BURNED warns of the dangers of forever chemicals in fire fighter PPE.

A new documentary warning of the dangers of forever chemicals in fire fighter PPE will soon be available for screening.

BURNED tells the story of Diane Cotter, who suspected a dangerous toxin could be present in turnout gear after her husband, Worcester, MA Local 1009 fire fighter Paul Cotter, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in late 2014. She spent several years immersing herself in existing research while doggedly pursuing answers from scientists, corporations, and politicians.

“There’s no reason we should have carcinogens in our gear, and Diane has played an important part in sounding that alarm,” said General President Edward Kelly. “Extinguishing cancer is a fight that requires many partners and BURNED will be an important tool to help us get the word out on the need for PFAS-free turnout gear.”

Kelly also appears in the documentary, created by Ethereal Films in collaboration with the Last Call Foundation and Footpath Pictures.
