Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. will address IAFF members at the inaugural Strive for Excellence Summit this month, sharing lessons from decades of leadership in high-stakes environments.
Dunford was the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2015 to 2019, serving as the principal military advisor to the President. He was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2015 and renominated for a second two-year term by President Donald Trump in 2017.
During his career, Dunford also served as Commandant of the Marine Corps and commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
“General Dunford has led at the highest levels,” General President Edward Kelly said. “We’re honored to have him share his perspective on service with IAFF members.”
Starting March 29 in Las Vegas, Strive for Excellence will feature more than 100 new workshops and five days of hands-on training. It is the first IAFF conference designed for the entire membership.
