The IAFF welcomes its newest Texas affiliate, Cy-Fair Professional EMS and Fire Association Local 5248.
In May 2019, Harris County Emergency Service District (ESD) No. 9 approved a resolution to take over all fire department operations. Accordingly, the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department became the Cy-Fair Fire Department. As career fire fighters joined professional paramedics and EMTs in the growing department, it was the time to organize.
“We felt it was important to take an active role in this process, especially as more fire fighters are hired and resources are added,” says Local 5248 President Kris Morgan.
Joining Morgan on the Local 5248 Executive Board is Secretary-Treasurer Lyndsey Willman. The local represents the interests of 46 fire fighters, paramedics and EMTs.
