The IAFF is proud to welcome Black Mountain, NC Local 5246, a new affiliate representing the interests of 14 members of the Black Mountain Fire Department which just celebrated its 100 years of service this year. The department has always been a combination department, growing over time.
Black Mountain fire fighters received great support from the fire department administration. “We are looking forward to developing a positive relationship with our mayor and board of aldermen,” says Black Mountain Local 5246 President George Bond. “With a positive labor-management relationship, we hope to make improvements to the department to better serve our citizens.”
Soon after President Bond and Secretary-Treasurer Travis Martin were elected to the executive board, Bond and Local 5246 member Carl Patton represented the local at the Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics of North Carolina Convention November 10-13.
