Today, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) is rolling out a new legislative scorecard to help members track how federal lawmakers in the United States vote on key issues impacting fire fighters and emergency medical workers.
The scorecard offers a transparent look into what legislation the IAFF’s Government Affairs division is monitoring, whether the union supports or opposes the measure, and how each lawmaker in Washington, D.C. voted when it reached the House or Senate floor.
“With the launch of our new legislative scorecard, our members can now see who truly supports us on Capitol Hill – not just with their rhetoric but with their votes,” said IAFF General President Edward A. Kelly.
Members of Congress will receive an A-F letter grade based on how they vote on key IAFF legislative priorities, such as collective bargaining, pension protections, health and safety bills, and high-profile measures such as the Social Security Fairness Act.
To find your Senators and Representatives’ scores, IAFF members can simply type their address into the search bar at the top of the scorecard. You can also search for lawmakers by name, party, chamber, and state.
As bills get introduced throughout the 119th Congress, the IAFF will continue to make updates to the scorecard, ensuring members have the most up-to-date information about how their representatives vote on key priorities impacting fire fighters.
“Our scorecard will give IAFF members the information they need to walk into their meetings with elected officials fully prepared, knowing where politicians had our backs and where they came up short,” said Kelly.
