The San Diego Fire Fighter Regional Wellness Program initially started from a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It is now fully funded by the City of San Diego. Other local departments started in the wellness program from a grant and now their cities are funding it.
The San Diego Regional Wellness Program is contracted with the San Diego Sports Medicine Center, which provides staffing for the wellness exams and education.
