President Schaitberger made the decision to “turn off the spigot to federal candidates and federal parties, party committees and the super PACs that are created to support them” because, as he told reporter Steve Greenhouse of The New York Times:
“We’re tired that our friends have not been willing to stand up and fight back on our behalf with the same ferocity, the same commitment that our enemies have in trying to destroy our members’ rights.”
Apparently, a few of the people we generally think of as our “friends” in the blogging/journalism community are also failing the friend test by submitting scab posts to The Huffington Post web site even though a couple of our sister unions have called for a boycott by those who post on that site for free (it’s really for free publicity).
Reading some of the self-serving responses that are attributed to a few supposed “friends”on Jonathan Tasini’s blog Working Life, it’s clear that the same lack of commitment displayed by our “friends” on the federal level is symtematic of a much larger problem. Amen to Jonathan for exposing the scab behavior of HufPosters.
As the saying goes, with friends like these… who needs enemies.
