Via BNA News (subscription only), ten states in the past year have boosted statutory protections to state employees who blow the whistle on their employers or others on waste, fraud, or other unlawful governmental practices, according to an analysis by a group called Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility.

Unfortunately, PEER’s focus is on state employees, not on municipal employees, but their information on whistleblower laws provides some nice synopses on the protections available.  For example, here they provide rankings on each state’s whistleblower protection laws.
