Ohio takes another turn in the spotlight as a new committee has formed to promote the divisive SB5 legislation to state voters.

Building a Better Ohio,” a non-profit group was launched Tuesday to raise money and strategies over how to influence voters who want to ditch SB5.

A long-time Ohio lobbyist and Republican campaign strategist will chair the committee that’s expected to go head to head with We Are Ohio.

While Gov. Kasich & his allies launched their front group, citizens and working families across Ohio continue to gather staggering numbers of signatures in the petition drive to veto SB5. Leaders of the We Are Ohio campaign see the volunteer effort as on-track to gather the required signatures to place SB5 up for a vote of the people this November. The controversial SB5 legislation strips collective bargaining rights from public employees.

Unpopular Kasich, Senate President Tom Niehaus and House Speaker William G. Batchelder are all expected to be involved with Building a Better Ohio.

Ohio Plunderbund blog already calls out the group for promoting half-truths about SB5.

A Quinnipiac Poll conducted in mid-May showed that registered voters are ready to give SB5 the boot by a margin of 54 percent to 36 percent.
