It’s the scariest day of the year and IAFF locals will do their part to make sure their communities have a fun and safe Halloween.

Whether fire fighters simply plan to pass out candy at the station, or donate their time for a community event or organization – you can always count on IAFF members to put safety first.

Providence, RI Local 799 tweeted via USA Government these tips on how long to keep candy, child pedestrian safety and even how to apply your Halloween make-up without any side effects.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention also has a guide of tips for a safe and healthy Halloween. The CDC recommends attaching reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see trick-or-treaters. In addition, consider wearing well-fitted masks, costumes and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips and falls.

The Red Cross has 13 lucky tips to avoid a “trick” this Halloween. It also advises mapping out your Halloween route and to carry a flashlight.
