DHS Opens Application Period for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Services (SAFER) Grants

On May 12, 2008 the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted the Program Guidance document for the FY2008 SAFER Grants at the website for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program - www.firegrantsupport.com .  Under the DHS Appropriations Act of 2008, Congress appropriated $190 million for SAFER Grants.

Beginning May 27, 2008 DHS will begin accepting applications for SAFER Grants. The deadline for receipt of the SAFER Grant applications is June 27, 2008. NASEMSO hosts a webcast for state EMS offices regarding the EMS Education Agenda: A Systems Approach.

On June 2, 2008 the National Association of State EMS Officials hosted a webcast to provide state EMS offices the opportunity to obtain information and to ask questions regarding the Implementation of the Agenda.  The event was recorded and is now available for viewing at www.nasemso.org to anyone who wishes to access it.  A valid email address will be required to view the presentation.

CMS Issues New Fact Sheet On The Ambulance Fee Schedule

The Ambulance Fee Schedule Fact Sheet, which provides general information about the Ambulance Fee Schedule, is now available in downloadable format from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Medicare Learning Network at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MLNProducts/downloads/AmbulanceFeeSched_508.pdf
