Des Moines Local to Raffle Custom “Firefighter” Motorcycle

July 12, 2006 -- Des Moines, IA Local 4 has collaborated with the Radical Cycle Company and Custom Paint Specialists to build a custom motorcycle. “The Firefighter” will pay tribute to fire fighters who have died in the line of duty.

Once complete, Local 4 will raffle the motorcycle to raise money for the widows of two Des Moines fire fighters who died in the line of duty this year. Fire fighter Dan Nichols was the first Local 4 member to die in the line of duty since 1978; fire fighter Mike Vivone died three months later following a long battle with cancer. These two line-of-duty deaths have depleted Local 4’s welfare fund.

Raffle tickets are $20 each and must be purchased by October 10, 2006.
