Contest Categories

IAFF Media Awards are given in four major categories:

Category I.  PRINT, BROADCAST and INTERNET MEDIA

A: Best news story, series, or feature published in a newspaper, magazine or trade publication with a circulation of less than 100,000.

B: Best news story, series, or feature published in a newspaper, magazine or trade publication with a circulation of more than 100,000.

C: Best editorial/opinion on fire service or labor issues.

D: Best photo published in a newspaper or magazine with a circulation of less than 100,000.

E: Best photo published in a newspaper or magazine with a circulation of more than 100,000

F: Best television news, story, feature or documentary.

G: Best news story originally published on a web-based news site.

H. Best fire service photo originally published on a web-based news site

Category II.  MULTI-MEDIA

I.Best Blog Entry/Post

(Up to 5 URLs can be submitted on specific blog posts relating to the fire service. Please include any blog comments received on the post.)

J. Best YouTube Video

(Up to 5 URLs  can be submitted for this category illustrating a local’s effectiveness on government and civic issues in their community. Videos must not be longer than five minutes.)

Category III.  IAFF AFFILIATE

K: Best IAFF affiliate publication

(circulation less than 1,000)

 

L: Best IAFF affiliate publication

(circulation more than 1,000)

 

M: Best IAFF affiliate web site

(Website design, content and use are judged in this category.)

 

N: Best IAFF affiliate public relations or political campaign or project

 

O: Best IAFF affiliate special/one-time/annual publication or project

(such as annual reports, commemorative programs, educational materials)

 

P: Best use of Facebook page

 

Q: Best fire service photo (not previously published) taken by an IAFF member

 

R: Best Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

  

Category IV.   OUTSIDE THE BOX

At its discretion, the IAFF may recognize entries which do not fit in other categories listed.
