June 25, 2008 - Moorhead, MN Local 1323 participated in its annual Fill-the-Boot event, raising a record-setting $24,100, an increase of $21,535 over the 2007 event. Fill-the-Boot Coordinator Dean Bloch and Local 1323 President Rick Loveland changed the annual Fill-the-Boot to a three-day event in 2008, with on-duty fire fighters collecting. Local 1323 worked closely with the fire chief to coordinate the on-duty event and to gain full department support. Moorhead Local 1323 fire fighters collected for six hours each day during the event, raising an average of $803 per member.
