June 5, 2008 - Summer heat is not an option when it comes to the determined fire fighters of Temple Terrace, Florida. These selfless men and women in the Tampa Bay area hit the pavement to raise needed funds for MDA.

Throughout the spring, MDA Coordinator Chris Ashley prepped Temple Terrace FL Local 3582 on procedures, dates and of motivation. Ashley led his team of 38 to another successful MDA Fill-the-Boot drive, raising more than $ 8,500. Temple Terrace has only two fire stations, for an individual per capita of $223. Way to go Temple Terrace!

In June, the two stations will join MDA Summer Camp to cook an award-winning dinner for campers. This is a special night for Temple Terrace, as last year campers voted Local 3582 the winner of the “Silver Spatula Award.” A win this year will make Temple Terrace the first to have won three years in a row – a never before achieved level of greatness.

In addition to its annual MDA Fill-the-Boot drive, Temple Terrace Local 3582 organizes an MDA softball tournament every August.
