August 23, 2007 - Gilroy, CA Local 2805 teamed up August 10 - 12, 2007 to fill their boots for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Fire fighters collected over $8,200 in donations at the intersection of Camino Arroyo and Renz Lane, with the help of Gilroy citizens, pedestrians and passing motorists.

The 2007 Miss Gilroy Garlic Festival, Cherise Gowen, also joined the Fill-The-Boot drive by asking motorists and local shoppers to drop monetary donations in the fire fighters boots. The donations will help change the lives of the thousands of families in Monterey County affected by neuromuscular diseases by helping find treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, fund clinics and help send kids to summer camp. Local 2805 has participated in the “Fill the Boot” drives for many years. 

Gilroy fire fighters will also be participating in a Softball Tournament on Saturday, August 25, 2007, at Christmas Hill Park.
