August 14, 2007 - Beaumont, TX Local 399 raised more than $62,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through its annual Fill The Boot drive. The final total was $62,599.11. This sets a new all-time high for the most money ever collected by the fire department. All three shifts of the Beaumont Fire Department collected on three different Fridays in April.

“The credit goes to the community for their continued support and generosity,” said Galen Key, President of Local 399. “Our members are proud to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The partnership between the firefighters and MDA goes back over 50 years. We know that the money we are raising is benefiting a good cause and will stay here to help local families in our area.”

“Beaumont Firefighters Local 399 are truly heroes to the families in our community,” said Anna Papoutsis, MDA District Director. “Their dedication is amazing. The money they raised provides hope to the families we serve and the doctors tell us hope is the best prescription.”

In the past 12 years, the Beaumont Firefighters have raised more than $382,000 for the local chapter of MDA.
