PFFW Hosts Another Funfilled Camp
Each year, MDA supports nearly 90 camps across the country. In
Wisconsin, youths ranging from six to 21 years of age attend either the MDA Summer
Camp at Camp Wonderland in Paddock Lake, or the Pilgrim Center Camp in Green
Lake. It costs MDA $650 to send one child to camp for one week. Campers say
the week they spend at MDA camp is “the best time of our lives.”
MDA Summer Camp, though structured, is conducted in a relaxed
atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop lifelong
friendships, share interests, and build self confidence. Activities range from
outdoor sports such as swimming and hockey to less physically demanding programs
like arts and crafts, skits, roasting marshmallows, and dances.
Fire fighters are a highlight of camp for the campers. This year
Green Bay Local 141 hosted their annual luncheon at the Pilgrim Center on
Thursday, June 14th and the PFFW Charities funded the Camp Wonderland luncheon
on Friday, June 15th spearheaded by Jeremy Tietyen from Franklin Local 2760 with
assistance from many Southeastern Wisconsin fire fighters. Thank you for your
continued support and helping to make MDA Summer Camp a week our campers look
forward to year-round.
