The 72nd Annual Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin (PFFW) Convention, hosted by Wausau Local 415, was held this year at The Plaza Hotel in Wausau, Wisconsin from Sunday, June 10th through Wednesday, June 13th, 2007.

On Monday, June 11th Dawn and Joe Thorson along with their son Roy who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy were present to speak to all the Locals about their personal connection to MDA and how the fire fighters fundraising efforts truly do make a difference to them and all the families that MDA serves.

That same day MDA recognized the top 10 Locals who raised the highest dollar amount with IAFF certificates. They were as follows: Wausau Local 415, Merrill Local 847, Two Rivers Local 423, St. Francis Local 2717, Fond du Lac Local 400, Kenosha Local 414, Greenfield Local 1963, North Shore Local 1440, Neenah/Menasha Local 275 and Green Bay Local 141.

MDA also awarded plaques to the top 3 Locals with the highest dollar amount raised per member. The winners were as follows: first place – St. Francis Local 2717, second place – Two Rivers Local 423 and third place – Merrill Local 847. Wausau Local 415 was also awarded honorable mention as well as the PFFW for raising $217,516 in 2006.

MDA would also like to thank the PFFW Charities and Green Bay Local 141 for hosting their annual cook-out at MDA Summer Camp on Thursday, June 14th and Friday, June 15th as well as all other Locals who participated in MDA fundraising campaigns. The support and dedication from Wisconsin fire fighters is greatly appreciated.
