The IAFF Legal Department provides a full range of services to meet the internal and external legal needs of our affiliates. Attorneys are available to provide informal guidance to IAFF affiliate officers on issues related to constitution and by-laws, conducting union meetings and elections, and other matters that may arise within their affiliates. In some circumstances IAFF affiliates may also receive direct legal representation from the General Counsel's office for lawsuits against their employers, or for financial assistance with legal matters being handled by their own attorneys. The information provided on this site is designed to inform you of legal services available to IAFF affiliates, and to provide an overview of legal issues that are frequently encountered by fire fighters and emergency personnel.
