It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain David Drainville of IAFF Local 193 - Thunder Bay, Ontario. Brother Drainville, 57, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from brain cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario P7A 4R9, (807) 346-9880.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Foundation to the Hospice Unit or other charity of your choice in David's name. David began his career as a firefighter for the City of Thunder Bay in 1973, and achieved the rank of Captain during his 29 year career. He was a Dive Master and a founding member of the Thunder Bay Fire Diving Team. David specialized as a Water Rescue Instructor, the system he helped introduce to the fire department that is still used today. David was known for his tremendous strength of character and was well regarded by others for his work as a firefighter.
