It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Captain Urban A. Eck of IAFF Local 135 – Wichita, Kansas. Brother Eck, 51, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from a cardiac condition following firefighting activities.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 19230 W. 29th N., Colwich, Kansas 67030, (316) 796-1604. Interment will be at St. Mark Cemetery directly behind the church.

USFA Initial Summary: While operating at the scene of a working fire incident, Captain Eck was not feeling well and reported to the Rehab Sector where his vital signs were irregular and did not return to normal. Eck subsequently worked one more shift during which he responded to several incidents before going to a doctor after reporting that he still did not feel well. Although the doctor hospitalized him, Captain Eck later passed away after surgery from complications associated with a medical procedure. Incident Location: Pending
