INGREDIENTS

1 lb. lean ground turkey
½ small onion, minced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. basil
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. oregano
1 tsp. ground black pepper
4 slices low sodium, low fat Swiss cheese
4 pieces lettuce
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  ketchup, mustard, & pickles, as desired
RECIPE

  • Combine ground turkey with seasonings in a bowl and mix well but gently with hands.
  • Shape into 4 patties, each about ½-inch thick.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 2-4 hours or overnight.
  • Grill, covered, on medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes per side or until internal temperature reads 165ºF.
  • Place one slice cheese on top of each burger and let melt.
  • Assemble burgers with lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and mustard as desired.
