INGREDIENTS

2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into pieces
1 c. confectioners sugar, plus more for dusting
2 c. all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting board
  pinch of salt
RECIPE

  • Preheat oven to 300°F.
  • In bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the confectioners sugar and mix thoroughly.
  • Stir in the flour and add a pinch of salt. Continue to mix until a smooth ball forms.
  • Flatten ball into a ⅓ inch thick disk. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough between ⅛ and ¼ inch thick on a board lightly dusted with flour. Use holiday cookie cutters and cut into shapes.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until cookies are dry but pale in color.
  • Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet.
  • Sprinkle confectioners sugar over cookies through a sieve.
