INGREDIENTS

¾ cup light brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
⅓ cup raisins
⅓ cup cinnamon red-hot candies
6 unpeeled baking apples, cored
1 tbsp. unsalted butter or margarine, for buttering the baking pan
½ cup maple syrup
RECIPE

  • Preheat the oven to 350˚F.
  • Mix together the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, and red-hot candies. Set aside.
  • Core, but do not peel, 6 apples.
  • Lightly butter a baking pan.  Place the cored apples in it.
  • Divide the filling mixture in 6 parts and fill each apple.
  • Pour the maple syrup over the apples and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until tender.
