INGREDIENTS

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp grated, fresh ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup molasses
1/2 cup boiling water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened
RECIPE

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  • Stir in the egg, sugar, and molasses.
  • Add the water, oil and applesauce. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into greased 9 x 9" square baking pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
