A series of general sessions are scheduled to provide participant with presentations on important issues concerning human relations in the fire emergency medical service. These will include:
Panel Discussions:
IAFF leaders and other fire service/EMS representatives will discuss recruitment, selection, retention and promotional issues affecting diversity and human relations. Topics include current issues in the fire service and affinity organizations.
Open Forum:
A one-hour open forum will be provided for conference participants to identify topics and issues of concern regarding human relations and diversity affecting IAFF members.
Roundtables:
A formal networking opportunity will be provided for participants to learn from others who have similar experiences and solutions for human relations issues affecting IAFF members.
This year’s roundtable topics include:
- promotions
- workplace accommodations
- personal relations
- Canadian issues
- LGBT issues
- work/family issues
- generational conflicts
- fair share
- PR and media for human relations
- economic impact of human relations
- practical legal applications
- religious freedom and tolerance.
Conference participants will select the roundtable topic of their choice and join in on the discussion. Participants will attend Roundtables A or B on Tuesday. Topics will be listed at conference.
