IAFF John P. Redmond Symposium on the

Occupational Health & Hazards of the Fire Service

in conjunction with the

Dominick F. Barbera Emergency Medical Services Conference

"Our fire fighters and paramedics continue to face traditional hazards and emerging threats during an economic crisis where budgets are being cut across North America.  The IAFF continues on the frontline to sustain and improve the safe, efficient and effective operational environments of our members.  This yearís IAFF Redmond Symposium and Barbera EMS Conference reflects our commitment to ensure the survival of our members on the fireground and on EMS scenes with research, new programs, initiatives and tools.

Harold A. Schaitberger, IAFF General President

The IAFF and the John P. Redmond Foundation have been on the frontline of every major health and safety initiative in the fire service. The IAFF Redmond Symposium reflects our commitment to explore the cause of every IAFF memberís death, injury or illness and to develop sustainable solutions to further protect the health and safety of the membership. Charged with defending North America from new and reemerging hazards, our members must be armed with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect our fire fighters and paramedics now and in the future.

The Dominick F. Barbera EMS Conference explores all aspects of fire based emergency medical services. From the tenets of emergency response system design and operations, to medical direction and privatization, and from quality assessment and data collection to billing for transport, this Conference covers the most relevant topics affecting fire service-based EMS systems.

The 2013 event features an innovative presentation platform and new technology to enhance the educational experience, including two days of plenary sessions and two days of topic-specific workshops, and information sessions.

In addition, exhibitors include fire service equipment manufacturers, fitness companies, and other vendors. Fire fighters, paramedics, medical directors, physicians, occupational safety professionals and fitness trainers are all encouraged to attend this important event.

The John P. Redmond Symposium and Dominick F. Barbera EMS Conference is scheduled for August 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.
