American Burn Association
The American Burn Association is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by burn injury.
Who We Are
The American Burn Association and its members dedicate their efforts and resources to promoting and supporting burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation, and prevention. The ABA has more than 3,500 members in the United States , Canada , Europe, Asia, and Latin America . Members include physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, researchers, social workers, firefighters, and hospitals with burn centers. Our multidisciplinary membership enhances our ability to work toward common goals with other organizations on educational programs.
The ABA and its members are committed to improving the quality of care provided to burn patients. Our activities involve stimulating research in the methods of treating burn injuries and fostering prevention efforts. Other key ABA endeavors include providing continuing education courses, annual scientific meetings, and scientific publications.
The ABA offers and administers Advanced Burn Life Support courses, including the ABLS Now © web-based course, for physicians, burn care professionals, and first-responder personnel. National guidelines have been developed to optimize burn care and, with the American College of Surgeons, the ABA created a program to provide burn center verification, a true mark of distinction for a burn center. To achieve burn center verification, a center must meet rigorous standards for organizational structure, personnel qualifications, facilities resources, and medical care services from the time of injury through rehabilitation. A National Burn Repository (NBR) and burn registry software program, known as National BurnTRACS was also developed.
The ABA maintains a Chicago office and Washington, DC representation. Current advocacy efforts include critical collaborative disaster preparedness projects with HHS; addressing potential Medicare and Medicaid cuts that affect burn patients and services; seeking additional support for the CARES Act to cover treatment of children's congenital or developmental deformity due to burns; and revising the definition of trauma in the federal law to include burn injuries.

Since 1994, owners, operators,
brothers and partners, Steve and Bruce Cousins have transformed
Armida Winery from a quiet producer of good wines into a much
livelier place focusing on artisan, single-vineyard wines from
the top growers in Sonoma County.
We hand-craft over ten different wines and feature some of the best vineyards in California, including Maple Vineyards Zinfandel and Maple Vineyards Tina’s Block (perhaps California’s BEST Zinfandel vineyard), Durell Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Parmelee-Hill Pinot and Zinfandel, Bacigalupi Pinot Noir, Castelli Knight Pinot Noir, and Dutton Chardonnay. From our seven-acre estate vineyard we produce Il Campo (“Field Blend”), a delicious combination of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.
While we make seriously great wine the focus at Armida is FUN!, which is one of the reasons we also produce poizin (Zinfandel) “The Wine to Die for,” and ANTIDOTE (Pinot Grigio). We invite you to the winery to try our wines and our warm, friendly hospitality. If so inclined you might want to bring along lunch or an early dinner to enjoy on the large patio as you take in the hillside views of the Russian River Valley, or perhaps play Bocce Ball on the court between the patio and the pond.

For 125 years, firefighters and
fire departments around the world have turned to Globe
Manufacturing for the world's best turnout gear.
To develop G-XTREME®, the most advanced turnout gear ever made, Globe spent hundreds of hours interviewing firefighters, then applied breakthroughs in ergonomic design and the engineering skills of their experienced in-house team. The result: turnout gear that moves the way the human body does, without restriction.
Next Globe focused on making this ergonomic design work even better. Since firefighters come in all sizes and shapes, for 2012 Globe added a whole new dimension in fit: SHAPE. With both straight and tapered shape jackets and relaxed and regular shape pants, G-XTREME can fit every member of the department without extra bulk and without compromising movement. Fit isn't just about comfort; it's about functionality, mobility and safety.
Also for 2012, Globe is introducing WASP—Wearable Advanced Sensor Platform—an integrated body-worn electronics system that includes physiological monitoring and location/tracking. This innovation will improve emergency responders' health and safety and will be a critical element of the turnout gear of the future.

The production of various garments
began in 1889 at our Richmond facility. In the late 60s the
company became the outerwear division of Bombardier Recreational
Products that was later sold to Camoplast Inc. After
manufacturing for over 20 years extreme sports outerwear, winter
sports and football protective equipment the transition began to
FR industrial and military protective apparel in the mid-1980s.
In 1999, a new management team decided to merge the know-how in
Extreme sports and Fire Retardant industrial/military apparel
designs and manufacturing to create a new generation of turnout
gear, identified as the INNO5000 / INNO6000 SERIES™. The next
step was to find a new company name. INNOTEX® was chosen, as it
is derived from our mission to continuously INNOvate through
TEXtile. The first UL® certified turnout gear subsequently was
made in 2001.
Today, INNOTEX®’s commitment is to keep providing firefighters with the absolute best turnout gear, gloves, and hoods maximizing their performance and safety. N-FORS/Emergency Performance Inc.
We are all familiar with the
concept of cause and effect: The understanding that a specific
action has an impact on the outcome of an event. For a
community, a fire department’s availability, capability, and
on-scene operations has a significant impact on how quickly and
effectively a structural fire is controlled. Ultimately, this
outcome determines the health and safety of the firefighter and
Fire departments struggle with data collection and analysis associated with their operational performance and outcomes. These operational data elements are not included in the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). NFIRS was designed to track the incidence of fire rather than a fire department’s response to it. The National Fire Research Agenda and the 2011 National Fire Service Data Summit recognized the need for local fire department data. The focus is local but state and national fire organizations will benefit from the aggregation and analysis of local operational and safety data.
The primary goal of this project is to create a National Fire Operations Reporting System (N-FORS) empowering local fire departments to measure and optimize their response availability, capability, and effectiveness of on-scene performance. These operational measurements are directly connected to the outcome of the event (incident) for the firefighter, citizen, EMS patient, or property. The proposed system is not intended to replace NFIRS but to provide fire departments with additional information to maximize safety and operations from an outcomes perspective.
This project is the result of a well-documented history of collaboration and an urgent call-to-action by the fire industry and its lead federal and professional organizations. Along with Emergency Performance Inc., the project team includes the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). Their partnerships and consensus-based projects have driven extraordinary advancements that positively impact the health and safety of firefighters and our communities. This three-year initiative is designed to bring together fire industry leadership through a collaborative process to define, design, and implement a National Fire Operations Reporting System (N-FORS).

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
It has been nearly four decades
since President Lyndon Johnson's Committee on Highway Traffic
Safety recommended the creation of a national certification
agency to establish uniform standards for training and
examination of personnel active in the delivery of emergency
ambulance service. The result of this recommendation was the
inception of the National Registry of Emergency Medical
Technicians (NREMT) in 1970.
Since that time, pre-hospital emergency medical care has continually evolved and improved. The EMT has been acknowledged as a bonafide member of the health care team. Excellent training programs have been developed and a vital focus has been placed on continuing education. National standards have been established. Ambulance equipment essentials have been set. National accreditation of paramedic programs has been achieved, and professional associations for the EMT have been organized.
Through every change, the NREMT has remained steadfast in upholding its mission to provide a valid, uniform process to assess the knowledge and skills required for competent practice required by professionals throughout their careers and by maintaining a registry of certification status.
The organization has done what was necessary to establish, implement and maintain uniform requirements for the certification and recertification of emergency medical technicians. The NREMT has also been involved in numerous national projects and its staff participates on major national committees, playing an active part in the ever-continuing process of improving standards of emergency medical services.

More than 55 years ago we
introduced a medical device that launched an industry. Today we
continue to set new standards for the design and manufacturing
excellence of lifesaving tools for lifesaving teams in and out
of the hospital.
Physio-Control. The world leader in the development, manufacture, sale and service of external defibrillator/monitors and emergency medical response products and services.
Physio-Control pioneered defibrillation technology. In the late 1950s the company founder, Dr. Karl William Edmark, developed a device that sent a direct current (DC) electric shock through the heart to terminate ventricular fibrillation. This first DC defibrillator became the prototype for medical devices used by emergency medical services and hospitals around the world. Ten years later Physio-Control dramatically changed the face of emergency medical care forever with the introduction of the first portable defibrillator / monitor.
We continue to build on this early success. Working in partnership with EMS, nurses, doctors and medical researchers, we vigorously pursue new technologies for incorporation into our family of products. Today our products are designed to work together to give emergency caregivers, in the hospital or on the street, more control of a critical event. Our path is clear. Our goal is simple. To manufacture emergency response tools of the highest quality to help clinicians and emergency responders, anywhere in the world, through the toughest kind of emergencies. We take our responsibilities seriously. When we say we work to help save lives, we mean it.

Tailgater magazine published its premiere issue the summer of 2007. The idea for the magazine was conceived by two passionate tailgaters who understood that tailgating is a huge phenomenon where literally millions of men and women gather together around sporting events year-round to eat, drink, and celebrate their favorite teams. These “tailgaters” spend over a billion dollars each year on tailgating products & gear such as grills, coolers, chairs, apparel, & electronics. Oh, let’s not forget food & beverages too! Though the idea started as a print magazine, it has grown steadily into a multi-level platform with print and digital versions, e-newsletters, tailgate tours, sponsored events, custom surveys, & retail activation.
In line with the development of new ideas, husband& wife publishers Craig & Janna Renfro launched the “Tailgater Members Only” program in 2012 as a fundraiser program for college athletic departments. This affinity program is similar to the Major League Baseball “Insiders Club” & the NASCAR “Official Members Club”. At its core this is a subscription to a very unique magazine – there is no other like it - that showcases great food & drink recipes, entertainment ideas, and cool gear & products in each and every issue in a coffee table quality publication. However, it offers so much more than just the magazine, i.e. exclusive member benefits such as special discounts & offerings from our national advertisers & sponsors, giveaway promotions with special prizes, exclusive e-news tailgating content, sports content, & other offerings that far offset the cost of the 1x annual membership - in fact, members can saves thousands of dollars on products & services that they purchase every day.
The magazine is allied with the company that is licensed to run the Official NASCAR Members Club and is now able to offer over 10,000 discounts & promotions daily to our members from over 1,000 national & local retailers in over 20 categories ranging from apparel & automotive, computers & electronics, restaurants & entertainment, to sporting goods & travel, and everything in between. Now, Tailgater magazine is partnering with the IAFF and the IAFF Charitable Foundation to sell “memberships” into the “Tailgater Members Only” program through the association members.
Recognizing the sacrifices & contributions that IAFF members make to our communities, Tailgater magazine will donate 35% of all membership proceeds, sold through IAFF member efforts, to the IAFF Charitable Foundation.
