ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS

Roundtable Sessions will be offered on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:00. Each session will be an open forum, where participants will have the opportunity to present questions and discussion on important safety and health topics. These are informal sessions and are not pre-assigned. All registrants are invited to attend one session each afternoon.

Monday, October 22, 2007: Roundtable Sessions  

  1. Writing Winning Grants Roundtable:  FIREACT, SAFER and Beyond

Grant funds are available to help fire departments pay for safety and health equipment and programs, apparatus, staffing and training.  Learn the fundamentals of how to apply for a grant.

  2. Ask the Trainer: The PFT Roundtable  

The IAFF has certified over 4,000 Peer Fitness Trainers. This open roundtable provides the opportunity to network and discuss successful strategies for fire department fitness and wellness programs.

 3. Building Codes and Construction Roundtable:  Consequences to Fire Fighter Health and SAfety  

Fire Fighters and the Building/Fire Codes.  How does it effect your work environment and why should you care.  Discussion will focus on why this leads to an increased risk for the fire fighter as they enter a structure fire and how we can impact these changes.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007: Roundtable Sessions

An open roundtable discussion on the medical needs and physician involvement in fire department occupational health and medical programs. This is an opportunity to further address issues addressed by physicians presenting during this symposium.

   3. Fire Apparatus Design and Safety: Beyond the IAFF Initiative  

You heard the program; the roundtable will provide a further opportunity to get answers to your questions from the experts on apparatus specifications and procurement, standards development, accident investigations and components of the IAFF and USFA programs.
