of 9/11, Convention delegates voted to make September 11 a Day of
Remembrance. During the special 9/11 tribute, New York fire fighters
and officers also thanked delegates for their recovery efforts

Delegates Dedicate Per Capita for IAFF Disaster Relief Efforts
August 30, 2006 - Following two of the worst hurricane
seasons in U.S. history, and as Tropical Depression Ernesto
continues to pose a threat along the eastern seaboard, delegates
approved a 10 cent increase in per capita to fund IAFF disaster
relief operations.

Burn Survivor Heidi Cave Finds Hope in Tragedy
August 30, 2006 - Heidi Cave lost part of her legs, but
not her hope. Cave was 23 years old in 1998 when the car she was
driving was hit so hard that it tumbled into a ravine, caught fire

delegates adopted substitute resolution 39 to develop and promote a

delegates took a break from the business at hand to honor Lynn
Jones, owner of Lynnco Custom Cycles who built the Peacemaker, a
custom-designed motorcycle in memory of the late Mattie Stepanek,
author and former Muscular Dystrophy Association Goodwill

FIREPAC Century Club Awards Recognize IAFF Fundraising Efforts
August 29, 2006 - The Washington State Council of Fire Fighters,
nine IAFF affiliates and two IAFF districts received awards Monday
for efforts to raise money for FIREPAC. Union members raised $3
million for FIREPAC during the election cycle that ended in 2004,
and IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger has set a goal for
the current cycle of $3.5 million.
