Your department may have already have safety officers-designated first responders who ensure overall safety at the firehouse and on a scene. The safety officers and your infections control officer will be the first line of defense for policies your department makes for the pandemic.

Before a pandemic

• Making sure station is safe work environment
• Enough equipment and supplies
• Equipment fits
• Everyone is using proper equipment when they should

After an Incident

• Reporting health incidents to health center
• Make sure everyone is following incident related decontamination guidelines
• Administrative and PPE controls followed
