UPFFA Holds Successful Fire Ops 101 |
|
The Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters of Connecticut (UPFFA) held its third consecutive Fire Ops 101 program for state legislators in April at the Hartford Fire Academy. The program was an opportunity for six Connecticut lawmakers to experience a day in the life of a professional fire fighter and understand the importance of the staffing, training and equipment needed to do the job every day. event, an event organized by Local 414 of the Kenosha Professional Fire Fighters Union that gave elected officials and media a chance to spend a day as a fire
fighter, participating in live fire fighting and EMS scenarios.

The IAFF 7th District hosted its fifth Fire Ops at the HAMMER training facility in Richland, Washington. Thirty-six decision-makers and media traveled from various points in Washington, Montana and Idaho to participate.

Fire Ops 101 in Phoenix, Arizona |

The Fire Ops 101 (Train-the-Trainer) event was a pre-conference event at the December 2008 Affiliate Leadership Training Summit (ALTS), which taught affiliate leaders how to run their own Fire Ops 101 program. Participants from four Fire Ops groups were selected, sized for PPE, given primary medical evaluations and needed to complete different scenarios. At the call of the Incident Commander, each Fire Ops team rotated through four Fire Ops scenarios: Engine Operations, Truck Operations, Search and Rescue and EMS. All participants learned how to run the event and deliver their message by using the appropriate talking points.
