Three Connecticut Locals Host 4th Successful Fire Ops
Three Connecticut affiliates – Fairfield Local 1426, Westport Local 1081 and Stratford Local 998 – held a joint Fire Ops 101 at the Fairfield Regional Fire School. At the event, local decision makers and media learned about the challenges first responders face on a daily basis. Participants included Fairfield Board of Finance Vice Chairman and First Selectman candidate Robert Bellitto Jr., Fairfield Representative Town Meeting (RTM) Moderator Jeffrey Steele (R-2) and Stratford Councilmen Dave Fuller (D-6) and John Dempsey (R-5), along with newspaper reporters Jason Bagley and Mike Lauterborn. The Fairfield RTM is an elected body of 50 residents who vote on the town budget, town ordinances and labor agreements. Click for the complete story.

Fire Ops Training Continues to Inspire Advocacy

Memphis Fire Ops
The Memphis Fire Department hosted a Fire Ops 101 at the Fire Department's Chester Anderson Training Center in Frayser. The Fire Department invited members of the media and citizens to go through the same training Memphis firefighters go through. Two Tennessee Locals Host Joint Fire Ops
Chattanooga, TN Local 820 and Cleveland, TN Local 3748 fire fighters hosted their first joint Fire Ops 101 at the Chattanooga Fire Academy. Chattanooga City Council Member Andrae McGary and Communications Director Richard Beeland from Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield’s office both braved turnout gear to get a feel for what fire fighters do every day. Vermont Fire Fighters Offer Fire Fighting 101 to Media

Fire Ops 101 Participants Gain New Appreciation for What Fire Fighters Do
The Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin hosted a Fire Ops 101 program at the Madison Fire Department’s Fire and Safety Education Center for fifty-five civilians. The majority of the Fire Ops 101 participants were elected officials and members of the media. Fire Ops 101 participants engaged in five different fire fighting scenarios to experience the realities that fire fighters face on a daily basis.
